BELIEFS

___________

OUR APPROACH

WE SEEK UNITY IN ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

EPHESIANS 4:2-6

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called - one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

WE VALUE LIBERTY IN NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

1 TIMOTHY 1:5

"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgement on disputable matters. Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God."

WE PURSUE LOVE IN ALL THINGS

JOHN 13:34-35

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

BELIEFS

___________

ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

THE TRINITY

Romans 8; Ephesians 1:13-14

There is one God, eternally existing in three co-equal Persons, namely the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

God, out of love for His children, sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and to rise from the dead.

SALVATION

Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16

Salvation is a free gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord.

Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38

Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized.

THE CHURCH

Ephesians 4:1-16

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost and discipling the saved, helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ.

SECOND COMING

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Christ will one day return and reign forever.

ETERNAL LIFE OR SEPARATION

John 3:16; John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:10,15

When we die, we will either be separated from God by sin or united with Him eternally through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

THE BIBLE

2 Timothy 3:16

The Bible is the inspired word of God and is the final authority in life and doctrine.

SUNDAYS

___________

WHAT TO EXPECT

SONG

When we gather on Sunday mornings, we join together in song. We sing new songs, old songs, hymns, and choruses that all point to the glory of our living God. Our aim is God-honoring, God-glorifying, God-exalting, gospel-centered worship.

PRAYER

Prayer is essential to our gatherings. Depending on the season we have Calls to Worship, Prayers of Confession, Prayers of Petition, and more. We also have avenues for you to get individualized prayer from our team.

WORD

Every Sunday we hear the good news of Jesus proclaimed and applied to everyday life through the Bible. Not only do we regularly walk through books of the Bible verse-by-verse, we occasionally tackle questions and issues facing the lives of those in our church, city, and world. More than anything else, we seek to elevate the hope offered to us in and through Jesus for this life and the life beyond.

TABLE

In every Sunday service we take communion. We participate in this ancient act of eating the bread of Christ’s body, drinking the cup of Christ’s blood, and remembering His death and resurrection until he comes again. We welcome all people to join us for our Sunday morning service, but we request that communion is only taken by those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

COMMUNITY GROUPS

JOIN A GROUP

COMMUNITY GROUPS

We belive that connecting weekly with others in living rooms and coffee shops throughout the city is vital to developing the kind of community we were made for. Our community groups are more than just opportunities to connect through prayer and Scripture, we seek to develop genuine friendship through the sharing of life together. In groups we're likely to discuss the latest performance at the Hollywood Bowl, the sports teams we're rooting for, or our favorite shows to watch on Netflix.

That being said, our Community Groups are always fundamentaly about helping one another to follow Jesus faithfully. We want to play together – Yes! – but we also want to pray together. On any given night we spend time praying that we'll live out the truths highlighted in Sunday's sermon, over our church and its ministries, and for one another.

SERVE

THE CHURCH

SERVE THE CHURCH

The church is a missions organization, and we think if Jesus showed up to church, the first thing he might say is “What can I do?” “How can I help?” Jesus himself commanded us to “serve one another.” We think there is no better way to “be like Jesus” than to serve one another, and so we invite folks to serve those who worship at the church and those who walk by the church every other week as we seek to be more like Jesus. If you want to serve with us at church, you can check out the area(s) below.

THE CITY

SERVE THE CITY

Our desire is certainly to be an “outward” facing church. We want Los Angeles to be a better city because we’re here, to miss our presence when we are gone, and to have more exposure to the gospel when we’re around. As a result, we’re committed to serving the last, the lost, and least of our city on a quarterly basis. You can see the local organizations we partner with both financially and personally below.

SERVE THE WORLD

“Make disciples of all nations” is a command we take seriously. Our church is committed to giving 10% of our annual income to missions that reach un-reached people groups, building hospitals in remote areas, developing schools in third-world countries, and much more. Since 2016 alone, we have given $235,000+ to international mission work.

COVID-19

___________

UPDATES

What we're doing to create a safe environment during the Covid-19 pandemic:

We maintain full compliance with our host school, our local school district, and our county public health officials.

We meet outdoors with plenty of space.

We provide individually wrapped communion.

We ask that you do not attend our service if you have any symptoms that may be related to Covid-19.

We provide a weekly live stream of the service each week for those who do not yet feel comfortable with in-person attendance.

We check in each attendee in order to notify them of a potential exposure.

We encourage people to wear masks who would like to do so.

We seek regular feedback from our guests to ensure that they felt both safe and welcome during their visit.

For our families and children specifically:
We have asked our congregation to be extra cautious by giving additional space to those families with children under the age of twelve.

We have kept reserved space for those families who would like an additional amount of distancing.

We have visitors who tell us almost weekly that one of the reasons they come to our service is because of how safe it feels to meet outdoors. One of the things we get to tell them is that we’ve been outside for almost a full year, without a single incidence of community spread.
